Living responsibly in our world. STATEMENT OF BELIEFS 1. THE NATURE AND UNITY OF THE GODHEAD There is one God who is eternal personal Spirit. He is infinite in power, holiness, wisdom and love. He is Triune in essential being and revealed to us as Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ as the second Person of the Godhead is eternally one with God the Father of whose person and glory He is the ac-curate expression. He was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born again of the virgin Mary, truly God and truly man (John 10:30). The Holy Spirit as the third Person of the Trinity is eternally one with the Father and the Son yet He is sent to achieve the Divine purpose in the world and in the Church (John 14: 16-17). 2. THE DIVINE INSPIRATION OF THE SCRIPTURES The Scriptures, consisting of the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testament, are the infallible Word of God. They were written by holy men of God inspired by the Holy Spirit, and have supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct (2 Tim 3:16-17 & 2 Peter 1:20-21) 3. THE SINFULNESS OF MAN Man was made in the image of God for fellowship with Him. By transgression of God’s command he fell from fellowship with God, and his nature was corrupted. As a consequence, all men are spiritually dead under Satan’s dominion and control and subject to God’s wrath and condemnation. (Romans 3:23) 4. CHRIST ATONEMENT FOR THE SIN OF MAN In order to redeem mankind from sin, Jesus Christ died a sacrificial death as our representative substitute. He resurrected in body form. The sinner is justified and reconciled to God, not through any personal merit but solely on the basis of God’s gracious gift of salvation in Jesus Christ received through faith. (1 Cor 15:1-4, Eph 2:6-8) 5. THE CHURCH The Church is the body of people whom God has separated from the world through faith in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour. All regenerate persons are members of the universal Church of God which takes local form whenever groups of believers unite for worship, fellowship and service in accordance with scriptural principles. (Acts 2:42) 6. THE BAPTISM OF BELIEVERS ONLY BY IMMERSION Baptism is an ordinance of the Lord Jesus Christ. It is a public declaration of a person’s faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour. In accordance with New Testament Scripture, it should be administered only by total immersion which symbolises the believer’s identification with Christ in death, burial and resurrection, the remission of sins and the believer’s dedication of himself to God to live and walk in newness of life. (Mat 28:19, Rom 6:3-7) 7. THE HOLY COMMUNION The Lord’s Supper is an ordinance of the Lord Jesus Christ instituted by Him to be celebrated with the elements of bread and wine by believers inChrist until the end of age. It commemorates and declares our jhanks for the Lord’s substitutionary death (Mat 26 26-2~) 8 THE RETURN OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST At the end of this age, according to His promise, Jesus Christ will return personally and visibly in His glory to the earth The full consummation of the kingdom awaits His return. (Acts 1:10-11) 9. THE RESURRECTION OF THE DEAD At the end of age, there is to be a resurrection both of the righteous and the unrighteous. After death the bodies return to dust, but their spirits return immediately to God—the righteous to be with Him and the unrig~teous to be re~erved for the judgement (Phil 1:23, Heb 9:27) 10. REWARDS AND PUNISHMENT IN A FUTURE DEATH God has appointed a day of final judgement for the world. At the time Jesus Christ will judge every man and each will receive reward or punishment according to one’s deeds. Those judged righteous, in their resurrected and glorified bodies, will receive their reward and will dwell forever with the Lord. The unrighteous will be consigned to Hell, the place of everlasting punishment. (Rev 21:6-8, Rev 22:12) 11. POWER FOR SERVICE The baptism in the Holy Spirit according to Acts 2:4 may be received by all believers to empower them for effective service. 12. DIVINE HEALING By Christ’s atoning death on the Cross, healing is available in answer to faith and prayer. (James 5:14-15) 13. THE GREAT COMMISSION Christ has commissioned all believers to go into all the world and preach the gospel. They are to tell all about His death and resurrection so that all may put their faith in Him and come to salvation. (Math 28:18-20)
